Windows 11 Pro N is a special edition of Windows 11 Pro created specifically for the European market, released to comply with European Commission requirements around bundled software. The "N" version excludes Windows Media Player, Movies & TV, Voice Recorder, and related media technologies that ship in the standard Pro edition.
Functionally, it carries all the core Windows 11 Pro features, including BitLocker device encryption, Remote Desktop, Group Policy management, Hyper-V virtualization, and Windows Sandbox. The only meaningful difference from standard Pro is the absence of built-in media playback components, which users can install separately if needed.
This edition is a perpetual license rather than a subscription, matching the licensing model of other retail Windows editions. It suits IT professionals, small business owners, and power users based in Europe who need Pro-level features and are comfortable installing their own media player of choice.
Activation works through Microsoft's standard Windows activation system, using a 25-character product key or a digital license tied to a Microsoft account.
