Lossless Scaling is a gaming utility for Windows developed and published by THS. It first released on Steam on December 28, 2018 and has since grown into an all-in-one tool for frame generation and image scaling.

The app runs alongside your game and captures its window. You choose a scaling or frame generation mode, press a hotkey, and Lossless Scaling outputs the result full screen, so it works with many games that lack modern upscaling options.

Its frame generation feature, LSFG, inserts generated frames to raise the displayed frame rate, with adaptive options that target a set refresh rate. Upscaling methods include sharp pixel-perfect integer scaling for retro and pixel-art games plus several spatial upscalers for modern titles.

It also supports a dual-GPU setup, letting a second graphics card handle frame generation while the main GPU renders the game. Results vary by game and hardware, and frame generation adds some input latency.

Setup is simple. You launch the game in windowed or borderless mode, open Lossless Scaling, select a profile and activate it with a hotkey or a timer. Profiles can be saved per game, and options such as frame generation multiplier, scaling type, sharpness and capture method can be tuned to balance image quality and performance. Because the tool works outside the game itself, it can help older titles locked to low frame rates or resolutions, as well as newer games running below your monitor's refresh rate.

It suits PC gamers on older or mid-range hardware, handheld PC owners and anyone wanting cleaner scaling for emulators or windowed games.
