Visual Studio 2019 Professional is Microsoft's commercial integrated development environment aimed at individual developers and small teams building applications across multiple platforms. It supports languages such as C++, C#, Visual Basic, F#, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python, making it versatile for desktop, web, mobile, and cloud projects.
This edition includes productivity features like CodeLens, Peek Definition, refactoring tools, resource viewers, and one-click web deployment, along with advanced debugging and diagnostics capabilities. It also supports professional mobile development for Android, iOS, and Windows through code sharing and debugging tools, though some advanced testing features found in higher tiers, such as IntelliTest, are not included.
Visual Studio 2019 Professional is available as either a perpetual retail licence or a subscription, with subscription plans bundling in Azure DevOps services, cloud dev/test credits, training, and professional support. This flexibility means organisations can choose a one-time purchase for standalone use or a subscription for ongoing access to updates and cloud-connected benefits.
This edition suits professional developers, freelancers, and small teams that need a capable, well-established IDE without the full enterprise tooling of Visual Studio Enterprise. It runs on Windows, with support extending back to Windows 7 SP1 depending on the installed version and update level.
