Project Professional 2024 is Microsoft's on-premises desktop application for planning, tracking, and reporting complex projects. Microsoft states it includes pre-built templates, multiple timelines, what-if scenarios, automatic scheduling based on task dependencies, timesheets, and built-in reports such as Burndown and Resource Overview.
Compared with Project Standard, the Professional edition adds the ability to sync with Project Online and Project Server, which supports resource management and collaboration across larger teams. This makes it a better fit for organisations coordinating multiple projects or resources across departments, rather than a single individual managing one project.
Microsoft licenses Project Professional 2024 for use on 1 PC, and it is compatible with Long-Term Servicing Channel environments, including Office LTSC and Office 2024. It is sold as a perpetual licence, so it does not expire once activated and does not require ongoing subscription payments.
