Yoku's Island Express is an open-world adventure game that uses pinball controls, developed by Villa Gorilla and published by Team17. It released on May 29, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

You play as Yoku, a small dung beetle who arrives on Mokumana Island to take over as the local postman. Yoku is tied to a ball, and you move him by using flippers and bumpers placed around the world, so exploring feels like playing a huge, connected pinball table.

The game mixes pinball with platforming and Metroidvania-style exploration. Helping islanders earns new abilities, such as a vacuum for grabbing explosive slugs and a Noisemaker for waking sleepy villagers. These open new routes, and giant bosses are defeated by bouncing Yoku into them.

Mokumana has varied regions, including beaches, jungles, snowy mountains, caves, and hot springs, all drawn in a hand-painted style. Several questlines run side by side, so you can choose your own path while trying to wake an island god from a troubled sleep. The game is single-player only.

Yoku's Island Express suits players who want a relaxed, original adventure, pinball fans looking for something different, and families who enjoy colorful, low-stress games.

Which version should you buy?
