Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is an open-world role-playing game developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo. It was released on March 20, 2025 for Nintendo Switch as an updated version of the 2015 Wii U game.

After Earth is caught in an alien war, the survivors of humanity crash-land on the planet Mira and build the city of New Los Angeles. You create your own character, join the BLADE organization and explore five huge continents to survey the land, fight hostile creatures and recover lost survivors.

Combat runs in real time, with characters using Arts that are timed and combined for extra effects. Later in the adventure you unlock Skells, large mechs you can pilot across the map and into battles against towering monsters.

The Definitive Edition updates the visuals for Switch, improves several quality-of-life features and adds new story content. It is mainly a single-player game, while its online features need a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Exploration is a big part of progress. You plant data probes across Mira to map regions, unlock fast travel and earn resources, while side missions and affinity events build up your party's relationships. You recruit a large cast of party members, each with their own classes and Arts, and customize your character's class, weapons and gear. Expect a long adventure, with main story, side content and the new chapter adding many hours of play.

It suits RPG fans who enjoy open exploration, deep character building and long playtimes, and players who missed the original on Wii U.
