Released in 2017, WARHAMMER II takes the fight to the New World, focusing on the struggle for control of the Great Vortex. While the game's core campaign is a narrative-driven race to save or destabilize the world, its true longevity comes from its integration with the rest of the trilogy.
As of May 2026, the "Warhammer Fantasy" era of Total War has reached its definitive state. In a major consumer-friendly shift in late 2025, Creative Assembly granted all owners of WARHAMMER II (and I) full access to the Immortal Empires campaign via the WARHAMMER III application. This means even if you only own the second game, you can launch the "Warcore" engine version of the map to play with your owned factions in the largest strategy map ever created. Meanwhile, anticipation is building for the recently announced Total War: Warhammer 40,000, scheduled for a 2027 release.
Four Core Races: Lead the disciplined High Elves, the sturdy Lizardmen, the treacherous Skaven, or the malicious Dark Elves, each with unique campaign mechanics and rosters.
Eye of the Vortex Campaign: Engage in a unique, story-driven race to perform rituals and control the magical vortex at the heart of Ulthuan.
Immortal Empires Access (2026): Ownership now acts as a key to unlock the combined "Mega-Campaign" map within the Total War: WARHAMMER III launcher.
Legendary Lords: Choose from powerful heroes like Tyrion, Lord Mazdamundi, and Malekith, each featuring branching skill trees and legendary quest battles.
Tactical Depth: Master magic, flying units, and monstrous beasts in real-time battles that support thousands of individual troops on screen.
