What is Tortuga: A Pirate's Tale?

Tortuga: A Pirate's Tale is a pirate strategy and simulation game developed by Gaming Minds Studios and published by Kalypso Media, released on February 13, 2024. You take the role of a pirate captain hungry for gold and glory, leading a fleet across a Caribbean split between the Spanish, Dutch, French and English colonial powers of the 17th century.

The loop alternates between sailing, trading in rumors and plunder, and fighting. Naval battles play out turn by turn on a hexagonal grid, where sea conditions and each ship's armament decide the outcome. Between fights you maintain your fleet, mixing weapon, hull, mast and figurehead upgrades into more than 360 loadouts across 18 ship types, including the Ship of the Line, Frigate and War Galleon. As an elected captain you agree on articles of capture and split the spoils with your crew, because an unhappy crew can turn to mutiny. More than 35 pirate skills, a custom flag, historic pirate encounters, governors' questlines and tavern rumors round out over 25 hours of stories. A Tortuga: A Pirate's Tale CD key fits strategy fans who want a focused pirate campaign rather than a full trade sim.

Players who enjoy the setting can also look at Port Royale 4, the studio's Caribbean trade strategy game. Full store details are on the official Steam page.
