The Precinct is an action-adventure police simulator developed by Fallen Tree Games and published by Kwalee.

Set in the fictional city of Averno in 1983, players take on the role of rookie police officer Nick Cordell Jr., who joins the Averno City Police Department to follow in the footsteps of his late father. Unlike traditional crime games where players act as criminals, The Precinct focuses on law enforcement duties, ranging from issuing parking tickets and responding to emergencies to pursuing gang members and investigating major criminal conspiracies.

The game combines police simulation mechanics with open-world sandbox gameplay. Players patrol the city on foot, by squad car, or even by helicopter while responding to procedurally generated crimes. Situations can escalate from minor offenses to large-scale shootouts, bank robberies, and high-speed pursuits through destructible environments.

Inspired by classic 1980s cop movies, The Precinct features a living city with dynamic weather, day-night cycles, gang-controlled districts, and a reactive crime system. Players can call for backup, deploy roadblocks, request spike strips, and coordinate with fellow officers during intense operations.

The game received generally positive player feedback after launch, with Steam reviews highlighting its nostalgic police-movie atmosphere, procedural crime system, and engaging vehicle chases.
