The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a story-driven action-adventure game developed by Daedalic Entertainment and co-published with Nacon. It released on May 25, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

The game is based on J.R.R. Tolkien's books and runs in parallel with The Fellowship of the Ring. You play as Gollum during the years he hunted for his Precious, from his escape from Mordor and the Mouth of Sauron to his captivity in the dungeons of the Elvenking Thranduil in Mirkwood.

Gameplay focuses on climbing, platforming and stealth rather than combat. Gollum is agile but weak in a fight, so you sneak past Orcs and Elves, scale walls and towers such as Barad-dur, and only strangle enemies when you catch them off guard.

A split-personality system shapes the story. At key moments Gollum and Smeagol argue, and you choose which side wins, which affects how characters react and how scenes play out.

Levels mix tight stealth sections with larger hub areas where Gollum talks to other characters and takes on tasks. Light environmental puzzles, hiding spots and distractions give you options for slipping past guards. The tone is darker and more personal than most Lord of the Rings games, focusing on one tormented character.

It is a single-player game aimed at Tolkien fans who want a stealth platformer from an unusual point of view rather than a large-scale battle game.
