What is Tales of Kenzera: ZAU?

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is a 2.5D metroidvania-style adventure developed by Surgent Studios, the studio founded by actor Abubakar Salim, and published by Electronic Arts under the EA Originals label. It launched on April 23, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The story frames itself as a tale written by a grieving boy's late father: you play Zau, a young shaman who strikes a bargain with Kalunga, the God of Death, to bring his Baba back.

The world of Kenzera draws on Bantu cultures and myths. Zau explores interconnected regions overrun by lost ancestral spirits, gains new traversal powers and faces three mighty spirits along the way. Combat switches between two shaman masks: the Mask of the Sun for close-range strikes and the Mask of the Moon for ranged attacks. The game supports adjustable difficulty and full controller support, and it holds a Metacritic score of 76 on PC.

A Tales of Kenzera: ZAU CD key suits players who like compact, story-driven metroidvanias with fluid platforming. It is a single-player game with no online modes. See the official Tales of Kenzera: ZAU page for trailers and edition details.
