Syberia is a point-and-click adventure game developed and published by Microids and created by Belgian comic artist Benoit Sokal. It first released for Windows PC in 2002, later reached consoles, and is now sold digitally on Steam and Nintendo Switch.

You explore richly drawn 3D locations, talk to characters, collect items and solve puzzles that are built into the story rather than added as separate challenges. Film-like camera angles and framing give each scene a cinematic look.

Much of the game revolves around clockwork automatons. Mechanical servants, wind-up trains and intricate machines are part of almost every puzzle, and many of them reflect the work of a genius toymaker whose story slowly comes into focus.

You play as Kate Walker, a New York lawyer sent to the alpine village of Valadilène to close the sale of an old automaton factory. The deal turns into a long journey across Europe toward eastern Russia as she searches for Hans Voralberg, the inventor who holds the key to the mystery. It is a single-player story.

Syberia suits players who enjoy slow, atmospheric adventures, strong characters and story-driven puzzles. It is also the starting point for the series, followed by Syberia II, Syberia 3 and Syberia: The World Before.
