Spider-Man 2: The Game is a licensed video game adaptation of the 2004 Sam Raimi film Spider-Man 2, released across multiple platforms with notably different experiences depending on the version. The console version (PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube), developed by Treyarch and published by Activision, is a third-person action-adventure title set in an open-world recreation of Manhattan, Roosevelt Island, Ellis Island, and Liberty Island, and is widely regarded as a landmark title for introducing physics-based web-swinging that let players traverse the city freely rather than along scripted rails.

In contrast, the PC version, developed by "The Fizz Factor" and published by Activision, is described by contemporaries as "an almost completely different game" from its console counterpart rather than a direct port . This version was designed with a younger audience in mind and does not include the free-swinging movement system that defined the console release, instead offering more linear, mission-based gameplay suited to the lower-spec PCs common at the time. Buyers comparing a Spider-Man 2: The Game CD key should be aware of this fundamental difference in gameplay design between the PC and console editions, and verify which specific version (console-style open-world vs. PC-linear) the key corresponds to before purchase.
