Sid Meier's Civilization VI is a turn-based 4X strategy game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K. It launched on PC in October 2016, with Mac and Linux versions from Aspyr and later releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. You lead a civilization from its first settlement to the modern era, expanding territory, researching technology, managing diplomacy and fighting wars on the way to victory.
The biggest change from earlier entries is that cities unstack across the map. Each district, wonder and improvement sits on its own hex, so terrain shapes how you plan a city. Active research rewards exploration: meeting certain goals triggers boosts that speed up technologies and civics, and the separate civics tree unlocks governments and policy cards you can swap to suit your strategy. Rival leaders follow agendas based on their historical traits, city-states offer bonuses to their allies, and spies can steal resources or topple governments. You can win through one of several victory types or play against friends online, over LAN or in hotseat.
Civilization VI suits both newcomers to the series and veterans who want deep, replayable sessions. A Sid Meier's Civilization VI CD key is often far cheaper than the store price. Once you own the base game, expansions such as Civilization VI: Rise and Fall add new systems, and series fans can compare prices for the newer Civilization 7.
Unstacked Cities: Districts, wonders and improvements each occupy their own hex, so city layout depends on the surrounding terrain.
Active Research: Exploring and meeting in-game goals triggers boosts that speed up technology and civic progress.
Civics and Policy Cards: A dedicated civics tree unlocks governments and swappable policies that let you adjust your strategy.
Agenda-Driven Leaders: Rival leaders pursue goals based on their historical traits, which shapes how diplomacy plays out.
Espionage and City-States: Send spies to gather intel or sabotage rivals, and win city-state allegiance for extra bonuses.
Multiplayer Options: Play online, over LAN or in hotseat, with cross-platform multiplayer between PC, Mac and Linux on Steam.
Mod Support and Expansions: Steam Workshop mods, plus the Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm expansions and further DLC packs.
