Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven revitalizes one of Square Enix's most experimental and legendary JRPGs into a fully voiced, stunning 3D adventure. Thousands of years ago, seven great heroes stood as humanity's absolute shield against legions of ancient monsters. Terrified of their immense power, the ancients banished them to another dimension. Now, those same heroes have returned—not to protect the world, but twisted into terrifying monstrosities bent on absolute vengeance against the descendants who forgot their sacrifices.
As the Emperor of Varennes, the defense of human legacy falls squarely onto your shoulders. What separates this title from traditional RPGs is its staggering scope: you do not play as a single protagonist, but as an entire dynasty of rulers across multiple generations. Imperial Succession System: When your active Emperor falls in battle or generations naturally pass, choose your next heir from over 30 distinct character classes (such as heavy infantry, tactile mages, bards, or unique nomadic tribes). Inherit the knowledge, weapon masteries, and memories of your predecessors.
Absolute Non-Linear Narrative: Your choices dictate the fate of the realm. Expand the borders of Varennes, invest imperial funds into building magical research labs, or completely alter the order in which you hunt down and confront the Seven Heroes.
Dynamic "Glimmer" Battle Mechanics: Engage in highly strategic timeline-driven combat. During the heat of a sword swing or a desperate spellcast, characters can randomly experience a "Glimmer" spark—instantly unlocking and executing a brand-new, powerful combat technique or technique evasion on the fly.
Overhauled 3D World: Ditch the original 16-bit tilesets. Towns, treacherous ruins, and vast world regions have been completely reimagined in detailed 3D, accompanied by full English and Japanese voice casts and a beautifully rearranged orchestral score by original composer Kenji Ito.
United Attack Combos & Formations: Position your party using complex military formations to buff defensive parameters or spell speeds. Fill your overdrive meter in combat to launch screen-clearing, multi-character United Attacks.
