Primal Planet is a 2D action-adventure metroidvania created by solo developer Seethingswarm and published by Pretty Soon. It released on Steam for Windows PC on July 28, 2025.

You play a cave dweller trying to protect his family after a brutal T-Rex attack. Exploration follows the metroidvania pattern: new tools and skills open paths through forests, plains, mountains, and underwater areas.

Survival and crafting sit at the core. You gather natural resources to make tools, weapons, healing mixtures, bait, and traps, then gain experience to upgrade your skills. Fights mix direct combat with stealth and tactics against dinosaurs, savage tribes, and bosses.

A second player can join at any time in local co-op as Sino, a small sinosauropteryx companion who grows stronger alongside you. The story blends prehistoric survival with a sci-fi twist involving ancient aliens.

The adventure rewards careful exploration, with hidden areas, new crafting materials, and tougher creatures in each new biome. As a solo-developed project, Primal Planet keeps its scope tight and focused, with detailed pixel art and a wide range of creatures, from the gentle Apatosaurus to the dangerous Carnotaurus. It offers full controller support, a keyboard-only option, and Remote Play Together for sharing local co-op online. The interface is translated into many languages, including German, Spanish, French, Polish, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.

It suits fans of pixel-art metroidvanias who also enjoy crafting systems and a story-driven adventure.
