Planet Coaster is a theme park construction and management simulation game. It was developed and published by Frontier Developments and released on November 17, 2016 for PC. A macOS version by Aspyr followed, and Planet Coaster: Console Edition launched for PlayStation and Xbox in 2020.

The core loop is building and running a park. You lay out paths, place rides and shops, hire staff, and set prices while keeping guests happy and the books balanced. Guests react to queues, prices, and scenery, so smart layout pays off.

Coaster design is a major draw. You can build tracks piece by piece, shape every curve and drop, and test rides to check excitement and nausea ratings. A detailed scenery system lets you construct themed buildings and landscapes down to individual pieces.

Career, Challenge, and Sandbox modes cover structured goals and free building. On PC, Steam Workshop support lets you share creations and download coasters, scenery, and full parks made by other players.

The Workshop holds a large library of player creations, which makes it easy to find inspiration. Planet Coaster suits creative players who like building, decorating, and fine-tuning systems at their own pace. Fans looking for the newer entry can also compare Planet Coaster 2.
