Orten Was The Case is a 2.5D puzzle adventure game developed and published by Woodhill Interactive. It launched on November 29, 2023 for PC and Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

You play as Ziggy, a youngster who wakes up barefoot with a strange mark on his hand in Orten, a fictional Swedish suburb. Minutes later an explosion destroys the area, and he wakes up again in the same spot. He is stuck in a time loop.

Progress comes from knowledge rather than items. Each loop lasts about 12 minutes, and the game keeps track of the clues, notes, and timeline events you discover. You use that information to reach new places, talk to the right people, and solve puzzles before time runs out. Because nothing physical carries over, every new loop is a chance to test a theory, follow a different neighbor, or try a puzzle from another angle.

The story follows a secretive group called the Midnight Council and events that took place in the town 40 years earlier. It is a single-player game with hand-painted visuals and full voice acting in several languages, including English, Swedish, French, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. Its cast of odd neighbors and loyal friends gives the mystery a warm, comic edge.

It suits players who enjoy time-loop mysteries, light puzzle solving, and character-driven stories with a humorous tone.
