NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... is an action RPG from Square Enix, developed together with Toylogic and released on April 23, 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It is an upgraded version of the original NieR Replicant and serves as the prequel to NieR:Automata.
You play as a young man who sets out with Grimoire Weiss, a talking book, to find a cure for his sister Yonah, who is ill with the Black Scrawl. The journey takes you across a quiet, ruined world in search of the Sealed Verses.
Combat mixes fast melee weapons with magic cast through Grimoire Weiss. This version adds reworked combat, upgraded visuals, fully re-recorded voice acting, and a rearranged soundtrack, along with new story content and an additional ending.
The game is single-player only. The story unfolds across multiple playthroughs, and each run reveals new scenes and perspectives that change how earlier events read. Side quests, fishing, and gardening fill out the world between main story chapters.
The world mixes peaceful villages with dangerous ruins and dungeons, and you return to the same areas often as the story moves forward. Weapons can be upgraded with materials, and magic words can be equipped to boost stats, giving some room for build choices.
It suits players who enjoyed NieR:Automata, fans of story-heavy Japanese RPGs, and anyone who values melancholy narratives and a strong musical score.
