New Tales from the Borderlands is a story-driven adventure game developed by Gearbox Studio Québec and published by 2K. Set in the chaotic sci-fi world of the Borderlands franchise, the game follows three new protagonists — Anu, Octavio, and Fran — as they attempt to survive corporate warfare, criminal threats, and intergalactic chaos on the planet Promethea.
The gameplay focuses on narrative decision-making, dialogue choices, exploration, quick-time events, and cinematic storytelling. Each protagonist features unique abilities and gadgets that influence gameplay and interactions throughout the story.
Unlike traditional Borderlands shooters, New Tales from the Borderlands emphasizes branching narratives, character relationships, humor, and emotional storytelling. Players make choices that can alter scenes, character interactions, and story outcomes across five episodic chapters.
The game features comic-book-inspired visuals, cinematic presentation, multiple endings, and classic Borderlands-style humor combined with interactive storytelling mechanics.
