Metal Slug Tactics is a turn-based tactical RPG with roguelite elements, developed by Leikir Studio and published by Dotemu. It was released on November 5, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

You lead a small squad of heroes from the Metal Slug series against General Morden and the Rebel Army. Battles play out on grid-based maps, where you move units, pick targets, and choose attacks, all drawn in the series' detailed pixel-art style.

The standout system is Sync. When one squad member attacks an enemy that an ally can also reach, the ally joins in with a follow-up shot for extra damage. Movement also matters, since moving farther in a turn builds up defensive bonuses.

Runs are built like a roguelite. You pick missions across several regions, earn experience, and unlock new weapons, perks, and loadout options. Special attacks and support calls, such as artillery or the Metal Slug tank itself, can turn a hard fight. The game is single-player.

Metal Slug Tactics suits fans of the arcade series and players who enjoy tactics games like XCOM or Into the Breach. Short missions and run-based progress make it easy to play a few battles at a time.
