Men of War: Assault Squad 2 is a refined tactical simulation that emphasizes infantry cover, vehicle armor thickness, and individual unit inventory. Every soldier has their own ammo and equipment, which can be scavenged from the battlefield. The game features 15 all-new skirmish missions and 25 reworked classics from the original Assault Squad. While its 2019 expansion, Cold War, introduced modern era units and dynamic campaigns, the core WWII game remains a favorite for its massive Steam Workshop library, featuring thousands of mods like GSM and RobZ Realism. In May 2026, it continues to hold a "Very Positive" rating on Steam as one of the most detailed military simulations available.
Direct Control: Take manual control of any soldier or vehicle to perform precision shots, throw grenades, or drive through obstacles.
Destructible Environments: Nearly every building, tree, and wall can be destroyed by artillery or tank fire, permanently altering the tactical landscape.
Deep Inventory System: Manage the gear of every individual unit; loot fallen enemies for helmets, better rifles, or anti-tank grenades.
8-Player Co-op: Tackle skirmish missions with up to seven friends or engage in massive 8v8 competitive multiplayer battles.
Realistic Armor & Ballistics: Projectiles are calculated based on velocity and angle of impact—if your shell hits a tank’s sloped armor at a bad angle, it will bounce.
