MechWarrior 5: Clans is a mech combat simulation game developed and published by Piranha Games. It was released on October 16, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

You play a newly graduated pilot from Clan Smoke Jaguar during Operation Revival, the Clan invasion of the Inner Sphere in the BattleTech universe. It is the first MechWarrior game told from a Clan point of view in decades, with a scripted campaign, cinematics, and recurring characters.

Each mission puts you in command of a Star of five BattleMechs. You pilot one mech yourself and give orders to the others with the Command Wheel or the top-down Battle Grid. Between missions, the MechLab and OmniPod system let you swap weapons, armor, and equipment for each job.

The campaign can be played solo or in five-player online co-op, with each friend taking a mech in the Star, and the game supports cross-platform multiplayer. Expansions such as Ghost Bear: Flash Storm and Wolves of Tukayyid add new campaigns.

MechWarrior 5: Clans suits fans of BattleTech, slower tactical shooters, and anyone who enjoys tuning loadouts before a fight.

Which version should you buy?

• PC: Most PC keys activate on Steam. Single-player works offline after download, while co-op needs a broadband connection.

• PS5 and Xbox Series X|S: Console codes are redeemed on PlayStation Network or a Microsoft account. There are no PS4 or Xbox One versions.

• DLC: Expansions like Ghost Bear: Flash Storm and Wolves of Tukayyid require the base game. Check whether a listing is the base game or DLC.
