Marvel's Spider-Man: Silver Lining is a story-based downloadable content chapter developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, serving as the concluding episode of the three-part "The City That Never Sleeps" expansion for the 2018 hit Marvel's Spider-Man. Released on December 21, 2018, following "The Heist" (October 23) and "Turf Wars" (November 20), Silver Lining picks up the narrative threads left by the previous chapters, bringing back the mercenary Silver Sable, who returns to New York to reclaim her stolen Sable International technology from Hammerhead's thugs.
With NYPD Captain Yuri Watanabe on administrative leave following her controversial actions against crime boss Hammerhead, Peter Parker must rely on unlikely allies, including Mary Jane Watson and Silver Sable, to keep the city safe as bigger threats loom on the horizon. The DLC introduces new missions, expanded enemy and crime types, additional trophies, and challenges, along with three new unlockable suits for Spider-Man: the Aikman Armor Suit, a Cyborg Spider-Man suit, and a suit inspired by Spider-Man's appearance in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Critical reception was mixed, with several reviewers noting that while the chapter provided a satisfying conclusion to the overarching Hammerhead storyline, it did not introduce significant new mechanics beyond the added suits and challenges. Buyers comparing a Marvel's Spider-Man: Silver Lining CD key should note that this DLC can be purchased individually or as part of the full "The City That Never Sleeps" bundle alongside "The Heist" and "Turf Wars," and it requires the base game to play.
