Lightyear Frontier is an open-world farming and exploration game developed by Swedish studio FRAME BREAK and published together with Coffee Stain Publishing, the label behind Satisfactory. It launched in Early Access on March 19, 2024, on PC through Steam and on Xbox Series X|S. You settle on a lush exoplanet in the Lightyear Frontier, a cluster of habitable worlds at the edge of the galaxy, and build a homestead from scratch.
The twist is the mech. Instead of a hoe and watering can, you farm from the cockpit of an all-purpose machine that plants, waters and harvests large fields of alien crops. You craft new parts and mod chips to tune its performance, rotate crops to improve yields, and gather and manage resources to expand your farm piece by piece. Exploration pushes you to overcome environmental challenges, send produce to remote colonies, befriend neighbors and raise alien livestock. Up to four players can share one homestead in online co-op, and Steam lists cross-platform multiplayer support.
It suits players who like relaxed farming sims but want more building, exploration and machinery than the usual cozy formula. There is no combat focus, so the pace stays calm. A discounted Lightyear Frontier CD key is a cheap way to start your exofarm.
