Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is a hack-and-slash action game developed by Koei Tecmo and published by Nintendo. It launched on November 6, 2025, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.

The story covers the Imprisoning War in ancient Hyrule, when Ganondorf invaded the kingdom. It presents the untold events behind The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with Princess Zelda, King Rauru, Queen Sonia, and Mineru at the center. Ganondorf, Qia, Agraston, Raphica, Ardi, and Calamo also appear across the campaign.

Battles follow the Warriors formula: you cut through huge armies, capture key points, and defeat powerful bosses. Sync Strikes let nearby allies combine attacks for heavy damage, and Zonai devices such as the Flame Emitter and Time Bomb add tactical options. Some stages let you fly as the Mysterious Construct. Each playable character has a distinct moveset, so switching heroes changes how you approach a battle.

Two players can team up in split-screen co-op on one console, or play across two Switch 2 systems locally or online via GameShare. Save data from Tears of the Kingdom or Age of Calamity unlocks bonus weapons.

It suits Zelda fans who want more of the Tears of the Kingdom backstory and players who enjoy fast, crowd-clearing action. Scanning Zelda series amiibo also gives in-game rewards.
