Going Medieval is a colony management and survival strategy game developed by Foxy Voxel and published by Mythwright. After a long early access period that began in 2021, version 1.0 launched on Steam for PC on March 17, 2026.
The setting is an alternate 14th century where a plague has wiped out most of humanity. You start with a few survivors in a land reclaimed by nature and help them build a home, gather food and materials, and survive the seasons. Over time, a few lost travelers can grow into a thriving walled town.
Building is fully 3D. You can raise multi-storey forts, dig underground cellars and caverns, and terraform earth and water to suit your plans. Rooms such as workshops, chapels, and libraries are built from stone, clay, and other gathered resources, then furnished and decorated.
Every settler is a unique character with skills, a personality, needs, and religious beliefs. Keeping them fed, clothed, and content is the key to a stable settlement. You also research medieval technology, craft weapons, set traps, and command settlers in battle when bandits and wild animals attack.
Maps are randomly generated, and the game supports Steam Workshop mods for extra content. It suits single-player fans of colony sims such as RimWorld, as well as players who enjoy medieval building and base defense.
PC: Going Medieval is a PC game, and keys activate on Steam.
Full release: Current keys give you the full 1.0 version, not the early access build.
Supporter Pack: A Supporter Pack DLC is sold separately and is not needed to play the game.
Before you buy, check that the offer is a Steam key for your region, then read our guide on how to activate your CD key. Development news is posted on the official Foxy Voxel website.
