Flipping Death is a 2D puzzle adventure platformer developed and published by Zoink Games, the Swedish studio behind Stick It to the Man. It launched on PC through Steam on August 6, 2018, and arrived on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch a day later.

You play as Penny, a young woman who dies under strange circumstances and wakes up as a temporary stand-in for Death. Her new job comes with one key power: she can flip the world between the land of the living and the land of the dead. Each side has its own platforms, paths, and characters, so most puzzles ask you to switch back and forth to reach new areas.

The standout system is possession. In the world of the living, Penny can take over people, read their thoughts, and move their limbs to trigger events. Helping ghosts with their unfinished business often means making the living do odd, funny things, and finding the right chain of actions is the heart of each puzzle.

The game is a single-player story adventure. The writing comes from Eisner Award winner Ryan North, and the world uses a pop-up book art style full of bright colors and strange residents. Penny also wants to learn how she died, which drives the main plot from area to area.

Flipping Death suits players who enjoy comedy adventures, light platforming, and puzzle solving through experimentation rather than reflexes. It is a good pick for fans of quirky narrative games and anyone who liked Zoink's earlier work.
