Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is the fifth expansion for Final Fantasy XIV Online, the MMORPG developed and published by Square Enix. It was released on July 2, 2024, for Windows PC, macOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with early access for pre-orders starting June 28, 2024.
With the Hydaelyn and Zodiark saga finished in Endwalker, Dawntrail opens a new chapter with a lighter, travel-focused tone. The Warrior of Light sails to the continent of Tural to support Wuk Lamat, a headstrong candidate in a rite of succession. Rivals race to complete seven Feats and find a fabled city of gold.
The level cap rises from 90 to 100, and two new jobs arrive: Viper, a dual-wielding melee fighter, and Pictomancer, a magical ranged job that paints its attacks. Zones range from the capital Tuliyollal and the mountains of Urqopacha to the jungles of Yak T'el and the frontier land of Shaaloani.
Dawntrail also brought a major graphics update with better lighting, shadows, and textures, plus DLSS and FSR upscaling. Later patches added new raids, Cosmic Exploration for crafters and gatherers, and the Occult Crescent field operation.
Final Fantasy XIV is played online with other players, but most main story dungeons can be cleared with NPC allies through Duty Support. Dawntrail suits players who have finished Endwalker and want the next major story.
