Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is a role-playing game developed by Square Enix with ARTDINK and published by Square Enix. It was released on October 30, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The package remakes the first two Dragon Quest games, the opening chapters of the Erdrick trilogy, in one release. Both use the HD-2D look that pairs pixel-art characters with detailed 3D scenery and lighting, the same style used for Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.

The core loop is classic Dragon Quest: explore towns, dungeons, and the overworld, talk to villagers, gear up, and fight monsters in turn-based battles. Dragon Quest I follows a lone descendant of Erdrick on a quest to defeat the Dragonlord, while Dragon Quest II widens the scope with a party of royal descendants facing a new threat years later.

The remake adds new story elements to both games, plus modern conveniences such as adjustable difficulty. Players with Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake save data unlock bonus outfits: a Dog Suit in the first game and a Cat Suit in the second. It is a single-player experience.

It suits longtime fans who want to finish the trilogy in HD-2D and newcomers curious about the roots of one of Japan's best-known RPG series.
