Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred is the first expansion for Blizzard Entertainment's dark fantasy action RPG, launched on October 7, 2024 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox. The story picks up after the base campaign: you follow Neyrelle into the jungle region of Nahantu as she tries to contain Mephisto, the Prime Evil, and uncover his plans for Sanctuary.
The headline addition is the Spiritborn, a new class built around four jungle Spirit Guardians that shape your skills and passives. Nahantu brings new towns, dungeons, Strongholds and enemy tribes, while recruitable Mercenaries fight beside you and gain power as you progress. For groups, the Dark Citadel is a co-op endgame dungeon that requires teamwork, supported by the new Party Finder. A Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred CD key is an add-on, so you need the Diablo IV base game on the same account.
The expansion suits players who finished the main campaign and want a new class plus more endgame. Blizzard has since followed it with Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred. Full details are on the official Diablo IV website.
Spiritborn Class: Play a new class tied to jungle Spirit Guardians, mixing fast melee strikes with spirit-powered skills and synergies not seen in earlier Diablo games.
New Region of Nahantu: Expand the Sanctuary map with a dense jungle region that adds towns, ruins of old civilizations, dungeons and Strongholds.
Campaign Continuation: Track Neyrelle and the soulstone holding Mephisto in a new story chapter that follows directly from the base game ending.
Mercenaries: Recruit AI allies who fight alongside you, level up over time and bring their own combat abilities.
Dark Citadel Co-op Dungeon: Team up for a multi-stage endgame dungeon designed for groups, with dedicated challenges and rewards.
Party Finder: Form groups in-game to tackle the Dark Citadel and other activities without leaving Sanctuary.
Cross-Platform Play: Join friends on other platforms through Battle.net cross-play and cross-progression.
