Defense Grid 2 is a tower defense strategy game developed by Hidden Path Entertainment and originally published by 505 Games. It was released on September 23, 2014 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and arrived on Nintendo Switch in February 2019.

The goal is simple to learn and hard to master. Waves of aliens march into each map to steal your power cores and carry them away. You place and upgrade towers along their path, shaping the route they take, and you lose cores only if enemies make it out with them.

Tower choice and placement matter more than reflexes. Different towers suit different enemy types, and building on open ground lets you create longer mazes for the aliens to walk. Each map can be replayed with modifiers and challenge modes, so there are many ways to approach the same layout.

Beyond the single-player campaign, the game supports online co-op and competitive multiplayer, plus local split-screen co-op on PC. A built-in map editor, DG Architect, lets players create their own maps and share them through Steam Workshop.

Defense Grid 2 suits strategy fans who enjoy planning, optimizing, and replaying maps for better results, as well as players looking for a tower defense game they can share with a friend.
