What is Dead as Disco?

Dead as Disco is a rhythm-action beat 'em up developed and published by Brain Jar Games. It launched in Early Access for PC on Steam on May 5, 2026, and pitches itself as martial arts meets music video.

You play as Charlie Disco, the late drummer of the legendary band Dead as Disco. Ten years after his death, his surviving bandmates, now larger-than-life solo stars called the Idols, reunite for a tribute concert. For one night only, Charlie returns to confront them and uncover who really killed him.

Combat is built around the beat. You attack, dodge, and take down enemies in sync with each song, and mastering the musical path of each Idol unlocks new talents, moves, and dances. The story is handcrafted and non-linear, with an original streamer-safe soundtrack plus licensed tracks.

Between fights, you collect outfits and customize the Dive Bar with memorabilia that reveals more of the band's history. A standout feature lets you play any song from your own music library and turn it into music-synced gameplay. It is single-player during Early Access, with co-op planned for the full release.

It suits fans of stylish brawlers and rhythm games, especially players who want music to drive the action without strict timing pressure.
