In CONSCRIPT, you play as André, a French soldier trapped in a desperate search for his kin. The game emphasizes resource management, complex environmental puzzles, and high-stakes combat. You must scavenge for limited supplies, manage a restricted inventory, and decide when to fight or flee from the relentless German advance. In December 2025, the game received its definitive Director's Cut update, which introduced "Shellshock" difficulty, a permadeath mode, and significant quality-of-life improvements such as the ability to move while shooting. As of March 2026, a special crossover bundle with Amnesia: The Bunker is also available, celebrating two of the most atmospheric WW1 horror experiences.
