Civilization: Beyond Earth is a turn-based 4X strategy game developed by Firaxis Games. As a spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri, it moves the legendary Civilization formula from Earth's history into the deep future. Following a global catastrophe known as "The Great Mistake," humanity flees to the stars. You must choose a sponsor, outfit your expedition, and land on a hostile alien world to build a new home, research futuristic technologies, and decide how humanity will evolve in its new environment.
The Tech Web: Abandon the linear timeline for a non-linear "Web" of technology, allowing you to specialize in three different directions based on your civilization's needs.
Affinities: Define your humanity through three distinct philosophies: Harmony (evolving to fit the planet), Purity (preserving Earth’s heritage), or Supremacy (embracing cybernetic enhancement).
Orbital Layer: Launch advanced satellites to provide tactical military boosts, economic buffs, or defensive support to your cities from above.
Quest System: Engage in a narrative-driven experience with scripted quests that provide resources, unit upgrades, and lore as you progress.
Customized Expedition: Choose your sponsor, your spacecraft, and your colonists to start each game with unique strategic advantages.
Alien Lifeforms: Encounter a living planet filled with indigenous life; choose to coexist peacefully or wage war against the massive alien hives.
