Cataclismo is a real-time strategy and city-defense game developed by Digital Sun, the studio behind Moonlighter, and published by Hooded Horse. It left Early Access with its full release on March 20, 2025, and the PC version activates on Steam.

The world has been consumed by a deadly Mist, and the creatures inside it, called Horrors, attack your settlement. During calmer periods you gather resources, explore and expand, then prepare for waves of enemies that test your defenses.

Its standout system is free-form fortress building. Walls, towers and battlements are placed brick by brick, and the way you stack and support them affects how well they survive a siege. Archers and other units fight from the ramparts you design.

The single-player campaign follows a story about survival beyond the Mist, and Steam Workshop support adds community-made content. Adjustable difficulty helps both newcomers and strategy veterans.

Planning is as important as reaction. Terrain, resources and the direction of enemy attacks all influence where you build, and stronger walls cost more materials, so you must balance defense with expansion. Accessibility options include color alternatives, camera comfort settings, mouse-only play and adjustable subtitles. Digital Sun ran the game in Early Access before launch, refining fortress building and adding content based on player feedback, and later released The Old Kingdom expansion.

It suits players who enjoy tower defense, castle building and resource management, especially those who like designing defenses by hand rather than from fixed templates.
