Botany Manor is a first-person puzzle game from London-based Balloon Studios, published by Whitethorn Games and released on April 9, 2024. It is set in 1890 in a stately home in the English countryside. You play as Arabella Greene, a retired botanist finishing her research book Forgotten Flora, and your job is to grow rare plant specimens from seed.
The core loop is observation and deduction. Each plant needs specific conditions, and the clues are spread across the manor and its gardens: books, posters, letters and Victorian contraptions. The plants are fantastical but based on real phenomena in nature, so you have to piece together what each one responds to before it blooms. As you open new rooms, you also learn about Arabella's career and the barriers she faced as a woman in 19th-century science.
There is no combat, no timer and no fail state, and the game supports saving anytime. It holds a Metacritic score of 82 on PC. A Botany Manor CD key suits players who like calm, self-paced puzzles in the vein of a detective notebook rather than reflex challenges. Learn more on the official Botany Manor website.
