Developed by Gearbox Software, Borderlands 3 takes the series' signature cel-shaded mayhem to a galactic scale. For the first time, players leave Pandora aboard the Sanctuary III spacecraft to visit diverse planets like the neon-lit metropolis of Promethea and the swampy bayous of Eden-6. The game features refined movement (sliding and mantling), a revamped elemental system, and the "Mayhem Mode" endgame challenge. In 2025 and 2026, the community has seen a resurgence in activity following the launch of Borderlands 4, with many players returning to the Ultimate Edition to experience the full saga of the Calypso Twins and the return of fan-favorite characters like Lilith and Maya.
