Blackguards 2 is a turn-based strategy RPG developed and published by Daedalic Entertainment, released on January 20, 2015 for Windows and macOS. It returns to Aventuria, the fantasy world of the German pen-and-paper RPG The Dark Eye, three years after the events of the first Blackguards. The story follows Cassia, a young noblewoman locked in a dungeon, who wants to break out, overthrow the ruler Marwan and claim the Shark Throne for herself, no matter the cost.
Combat plays out on hex-grid battlefields where positioning, spells and talents decide each fight. You recruit mercenaries, command up to 20 characters in your party, and track down the Vanquishers of the Nine Hordes from the original game, including Takate, Naurim and Zurbaran. Environments are interactive: you can collapse walls or open new routes mid-battle. The campaign offers non-linear paths and decisions that shape your squad and the ending, with more than 20 hours of playtime according to the developer. It holds a Metacritic score of 74 on PC.
