Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery is a narrative puzzle adventure developed by Silver Lining Studio and published by Akupara Games with Akatsuki Taiwan. It released on August 25, 2021 for PC, Mac, iOS, and Android, then on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in June 2022.

You play as an aspiring artist close to finishing the final piece for her gallery submission. Each day you paint, look for missing colors, and keep up small routines such as making coffee and breakfast.

Progress comes through gentle puzzles and guided brush strokes. Across the way, a brusque neighbor and his cat become part of the picture, and as the painting takes shape an emotional story about chance and art is slowly revealed. Many puzzles hide their clues in the scenery, so it pays to look closely at every room.

The hand-animated art has a soft look often compared to Studio Ghibli films, backed by an easy-listening soundtrack. There is no time pressure, it supports mouse-only play, and it is a single-player experience. A major content update arrived alongside the June 2022 console release, and the Steam version supports controllers, cloud saves, and achievements.

It suits players who enjoy short, cozy story games, light puzzles, and beautiful 2D animation. It is a short game, so it works well as a calm evening experience.
