ANNO: Mutationem is an action-adventure game with RPG elements, developed and published by ThinkingStars and released on March 16, 2022. It is set in a neon-lit cyberpunk metropolis full of mega-corporations, fringe groups and bizarre creatures. You play as Ann Flores, a combat-trained loner who teams up with hacker Ayane to find out what happened to her missing brother.
The game switches between 2D side-scrolling combat and platforming and 3D exploration, where you walk the streets, talk to residents and pick up side jobs, including bartending shifts and criminal hunts. Combat mixes great swords, double blades, pistols, rocket launchers, grenades and ground-pounds, and chips let you modify the weapons you find. Locations include Noctis Town, an offshore cargo ship and large underground structures.
If you enjoy cyberpunk settings like Cyberpunk 2077 but want a pixel-art action game with a story focus, this is a good fit. An ANNO: Mutationem CD key unlocks the full game on Steam, and the official Steam page lists the optional Collectors Upgrade Pack DLC.
