Alfred Hitchcock - Vertigo is a narrative adventure and psychological thriller developed by Spanish studio Pendulo Studios and published by Microids. It released on December 16, 2021, and takes loose inspiration from Hitchcock's 1958 film rather than retelling it. You follow Ed Miller, a novelist who walks away from a crash into Brody Canyon, California. Rescuers find no one else in the wreck, yet Ed insists his wife and daughter were in the car. Shaken by the event and suffering from severe vertigo, he starts therapy to find out what happened.
The game plays as a cinematic investigation. You switch between three characters, each with a different version of events, and move across several timelines to cross-check memories against facts. Camera framing, music and pacing borrow from classic thriller technique, so it is closer to an interactive film than a puzzle-heavy point-and-click. If you enjoy Microids' other detective titles such as Agatha Christie - The ABC Murders, this is a darker, more personal story.
