Akka Arrh is an arcade shooter developed by Llamasoft, the studio of Jeff Minter, and published by Atari. It released on February 21, 2023 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Atari VCS, with a PlayStation 5 version following in March 2024.

The game is a modern take on Akka Arrh, an Atari arcade prototype from 1982 that was tested but never released to the public. Llamasoft rebuilt the idea with its own sense of humor and bright, psychedelic visuals. Words, colors, shapes, and sound effects swirl around the playfield as the action builds.

You control a turret at the center of the screen as waves of enemies close in. When attackers break through your perimeter, the view zooms into close range and you fight them off from a different perspective. Chaining enemy explosions builds combos and earns ammo for precise shots.

Your rings act as your life force. Lose them all and the run ends. There are 50 levels, and you can start from the beginning or continue from where you left off. Online leaderboards track high scores, and an option lets you turn off the most intense visual effects. Runs are short, which makes it easy to jump in for a few levels and try to beat your best score.

It is a single-player game that suits fans of classic arcade shooters, Tempest 4000, and score-chasing runs.
