Against the Storm is a unique blend of survival city building and roguelite replayability. Unlike traditional builders where you manage a single city, you must oversee a vast network of short-term settlements to unlock permanent upgrades.
Diverse Fantasy Races: Each species has its own unique needs and specializations. Foxes excel in the forest, Beavers are master woodworkers, and the Bats (added in the Nightwatchers expansion) bring specialized aerial and nocturnal capabilities.
The Blightstorm Cycle: The world is constantly under threat from recurring storms. You must maximize each cycle to discover lost riches before the Blightstorm resets the world map.
Roguelite Progression: Carry forward resources and experience from every expedition to upgrade the Smoldering City, granting you better starting bonuses and blueprints for future runs.
Dynamic Environments: With six distinct biomes and hundreds of gameplay modifiers, no two settlements feel the same. Adaptive difficulty ensures the challenge remains fresh for both casual players and veterans.
Species Specialization: Balance the conflicting needs of multiple races to keep morale high and avoid desertion.
Strategic Blueprints: You don't start with every building; you must choose your blueprints wisely as you expand to ensure your settlement’s survival.
The Scorched Queen’s Mandate: Manage the Queen's Impatience while fulfilling her demands to secure "Reputation" and win each map.
Complex Production Chains: Manufacture everything from raincoats and ale to specialized tools and exotic scrolls to satisfy your citizens.
Massive DLC Expansions:
Keepers of the Stone (2024): Introduces Frogs, unique biomes, and specialized "Cornerstone" mechanics.
Nightwatchers (2025): Introduces Bats, nocturnal gameplay elements, and challenging new forest threats.
